DNA-Merche – Case
A clothing manufacturer that creates prints with its own designs and also produces printed clothing for various creative agencies. DNA-Merch is organized by a women's cooperative in Croatia and has established production in South Asia, dedicating 1% of sales to support the garment industry through the global ExChain network.
About the project
Migration of an existing online store from CMS WordPress to a more advanced eCommerce platform, CMS Shopify, while preserving functionality and enabling further expansion for the B2C segment.
Project tasks
- Migrate the existing resource from CMS WordPress to CMS Shopify while preserving its functionality.
- Expanding the functionality for editing existing and new pages.
- Integrating and configure Shopify Mail to enable sending 1,000 email notifications to customers.
- Set up a ready-made theme and customize it to match the design style of the old online store.
- Developing a custom B2B form without using third-party apps.
- Implementing a unique feature for creating and displaying various product options based on themes and prints without the need to create a new product variant each time.
Challenges
The online store is quite unique due to its “new print every month” feature. The prints are related to prominent figures in culture, arts, and other fields. For example, one of the prints was dedicated to Kateryna Gogou, a Greek anarcho-activist, poet, and theater and film actor 🎭 from the 60s and 70s.
Additionally, we were limited to using the free Dawn theme from Shopify, so we customized the design to closely replicate the design of the old WordPress version. We implemented all the requirements of DNA-Merch in the project, paying attention to details, such as displaying related products on the product page.
Custom B2B form and assortment specifications
We developed a dedicated page for B2B inquiries, where interested clients can submit a request to collaborate with the DNA-Merch brand. Additionally, we created a separate informational page where B2B clients can view detailed specifications of the clothing and merchandise.
Catalog and product groups
For this project, we used the free Dawn theme and then customized it according to the technical requirements. As a result, it’s visually difficult to compare the original theme with what it has become 🙃
Additionally, a significant amount of work was done on the store’s menu and product grouping, with the number of products and their variations exceeding a hundred. One of the key requirements was to maximize the display of different product groups on various pages so that store users could quickly and easily find the products they were interested in.
Related products
We integrated a feature that displays related products with prints that the customer has viewed, based on the type of product. This allows store customers to quickly navigate to the desired item—for example, if they are looking for a particular print but want it on a hoodie instead of a t-shirt.
